Recording & Editing
Vendivo has two recording workflows. Record makes a screen or window recording with an optional camera. Live Selling records the composed show program. Neither a saved show timeline nor a public broadcast means a video file has been saved.
Record your screen and camera
This workspace requires macOS 13 or later and OBS Studio 30.2 or later. Videos are saved as landscape 1920 × 1080, 30 fps MP4 files.
- Choose Record at the top of Vendivo. If you see your library, select New recording.
- Choose a screen or window under Screen. Allow the screen-recording permission requested by macOS. If Vendivo directs you to System Settings, enable its permission under Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, then reopen it. Allow OBS's screen-recording permission if the production engine requests it too.
- Under Camera, select a camera available to the production engine, or leave No camera for a screen-only video.
- Choose Camera overlay or Side by side when using a camera. For an overlay, choose its corner and adjust Size while watching the preview.
- Under Sound, choose a microphone and optionally enable Computer sound. Speak or play a sound and check the meters. With neither selected, the video has no sound.
- Open Recording options to choose whether to show the cursor and select a save folder. The default is Movies/Vendivo.
- Check the picture and sound, then select Record video. Recording begins after a three-second countdown.
Vendivo hides while recording. Click its recording timer in the Mac menu bar to pause and show controls, then choose Resume recording, Finish recording, or Show Vendivo (stay paused).
Use Mark mistake, or press Control–Option–Command–M (⌃⌥⌘M), to save an approximate point to revisit. A marker does not automatically cut the video.
After Finish recording, wait for Your video is ready. Play it back, rename it, or select Show in Finder. Finish active production outputs before switching into Record; the screen-recording workspace is separate from your live-show setup.
Refine and export a recording
Open Recent recordings, find your video, and select Refine.
- Set a selection's start and end, then choose Preview selection.
- Choose Remove selection to cut it, or Keep only selection to retain that part.
- Use Preview edit to check the result. Undo, Redo, and Restore original let you revisit the decision.
- Select Save edits to keep working later, or Export edited video… to save a new MP4.
Your original remains available. Markers help you find a moment, but review the surrounding footage before cutting. If Review saved footage appears, preview that footage before choosing Add to project; adding it preserves your current video and saved edits.
Import project… opens a recording project from another location. If a source video is missing, use the offered Locate original… or Locate video… action and review it before reconnecting it. Keep the project's source files until your exported video is verified.
Record a live show
Live Selling recording is separate from Record, the public broadcast, and the show timeline. Confirm all three states independently.
Choose and verify the folder
Open Show Settings → Output & Recording.
- Select Choose… beside the recording folder.
- Choose a location with enough free space for the entire show.
- Select Apply & Verify.
- Resolve any recording-folder or storage warning before the show.
Changing the text of a folder path is not enough; Vendivo must be able to create and use it. Apply & Verify does not make a test recording, so record and play back a short rehearsal before a long event.
Whatnot recording is manual
Whatnot Show Tools starts the public broadcast only. It does not start Vendivo's separate local recording.
Use this order:
- Complete preflight and every camera-view test.
- Select Start Show in Vendivo.
- Select RECORD in Vendivo's live controls.
- Confirm the control changes to RECORDING.
- Start the public broadcast in Whatnot Show Tools.
At the end:
- Stop the public broadcast and confirm it is off air.
- Stop the Vendivo recording.
- Wait for recording to finalize and verify the file.
- Select End Show to finish the local timeline.
Standard RTMP recording
For a non-Whatnot destination, Record with broadcast is available under Output & Recording. When enabled, Vendivo starts recording with the broadcast output and stops it as part of the output workflow.
Still confirm the recording state and final file. If you use the live RECORD control manually, treat public output and recording as separate states.
Item clips
Vendivo can use the show timeline to prepare item clips from a completed recording.
- Keep the show queue and item progression accurate while live.
- Stop recording before exporting clips.
- Wait until Vendivo reports that clips are ready.
- Use the clip export action, then verify the exported files before removing the source recording.
Highlights and item transitions improve the usefulness of the saved timeline; they do not replace the need for a healthy recording.
If a recording needs attention
In Record, check screen permissions, the chosen source, the preview, and the save folder. If Vendivo cannot verify the finished video, use Open recording folder and inspect the file; follow Retry finishing if offered.
For Live Selling:
- Confirm the production engine is connected.
- Confirm Apply & Verify completes without a recording-folder error and the expected path is shown.
- Check free disk space.
- Confirm no settings or output transition is still running.
- Stop other OBS recording or replay operations that may conflict.
Do not force-quit OBS or shut down the Mac while a recording may still be active or finalizing. Let Vendivo confirm it has stopped. Before a long session, make a short test, play back both picture and sound, and check free space in your chosen folder.
See Audio Setup when a recording has picture but no sound, or Troubleshooting when the recording state is uncertain.
